In reply to the discussion: Mary Trump rips Jon Stewart for 'bringing back the same B.S. - NJ.com [View all]flying_wahini
(8,284 posts)20. I did watch the show and although Harsh on ageism he speaks for many, many young people out there
Who complain ad nauseam about how we have the same candidates as before, many
other complaints too.
The two party state combined with the Electoral Collage has them on the edge of insanity if you talk to them at all. Stewart talked about it and I think it may be part of a larger strategy for him to speak to those issues. Who knows, maybe some young Magas who never have watched his show are targets.
It brings up many of my own worries to. When I talk to people in their 30s especially.
I keep saying GO VOTE, its So Important but they are despondent.
I worry for them all. I hear despair from so many .
Now is not the time to try and change those issues. After the election, maybe?
Voting is the ONE action that matters.

I had the same impression of JS during the show - made it through the first 5 minutes and had to turn it off.

I gave him a try last Monday but nothing to it. Tried too hard to be bipartisan.

Well said. And another older statesman said that allowing parties to rule would destroy democracy.

Stewart was really disappointing. Attempting to equate a lunatic with a statesman was terrible.
