(93,835 posts)54. Some people depend on Christmas for things they need throughout the year
things like clothes they could wear. even expensive things like some kitchen appliance, television etc are put off until christmas .
kids from not so well off families or who aren't spoiled usually get their things during this time.
these people don't spend at other times of the year.
with some of my family and others i am close to we now usually tell each other things we want. it's usually stuff we need or will buy anyways . but we give it as christmas gifts. i think it's better this way than to waste time and money on something nobody will really use and will just be stashed away somewhere.
