Fiddler on the Roof was the first Broadway show I saw as a kid with a friend's family when I was in grammar school. In the grammar school I attended we had Jewish holidays off, out the norm, although we were not Jewish, but we were happy to have both religious days off as kids 
The Bar Mitzvah parties for me were always a great time with friends, brings back old memories.
The world is really is as a small place when you expand your horizons. If given the opportunity and are fortunate enough to do so, and that is a big if more for many people, travel/different cultures can expand one's view's, but you need the chance and that is the key.
