(5,330 posts)The way our current economic system is set up now, it makes it appear as if the private-sector "pays for" public-sector works.
But really its the workers who create any economy's wealth, regardless of whether they are employed in the private or public sectors.
We could do away with the private-sector and still grow our economy and create wealth, by the government employing workers to produce things. I'm not saying a 100% socialist system is the way to go, just that the example destroys the illusion that the private-sector is really paying for anything.
So much of the public-sector's work under our current economic system is building a safe infrastructure for the private-sector to flourish, its foolish to say that the public-sector is dependent on the private-sector to function. If anything, the opposite is true.
