Donald Trump’s lawyers said Tuesday that the ex-president deserves a new trial and a fresh chance to tell a jury why he berated writer E. Jean Carroll for her sex abuse claims against him after she revealed them five years ago.
And at the same time he’s adding to the size of his legal team.
“Trump is further beefing up his legal team in the E. Jean Carroll case with a second appellate lawyer, Will Scharf, who is also a candidate for Missouri AG. (Scharf moved to be admitted in SDNY for purposes of the case today.)” Lisa Rubin, a legal correspondent for MSNBC posted on X, formerly Twitter.
The lawyers made the assertion as they renewed challenges to the $83.3 million awarded to Carroll in January by a Manhattan jury.
