Big, big, strangely colored hair, sequined frocks, makeup spackled on with a trowel, a smile that could best be described as a crazed rictus, the interpersonal demeanor of an incompetent, ill-prepared Sunday School teacher. Any time I was flipping through the channels, and she popped up on the screen, I usually watched for a few minutes out of bemused fascination, as I would with a performing monkey. Never longer than a few minutes, though. More risked madness.
