(37,518 posts)It was an old blue chip type firm that did things the way they wanted to. One thing they liked was 7- hour days. For staff that meant anything over 35 hours was at time and a half, except for Sundays which was double time. At the time it was one of the largest firms in the world, but after all the mergers (and they also merged eventually), I'm sure those kinds of perks are long gone.
Bernie is right, as always, something has to give when inequality gets so out of line. We can do it peacefully or it will eventually be a violent situation. So, the choices that make sense are better workweeks (allowing folks more leisure time - or time to work on their own gigs they might have), and/or tinker with tax policy. What we have now is unsustainable for most.
