In reply to the discussion: Vasectomy bill proposed in response to Louisiana's abortion ban [View all]charliea
(260 posts)49. Not a death penalty...
Louisiana law has already dehumanized women by removing their agency to chose. Being demoted to incubator status if you get pregnant (whether or not the fetus is viable), is already affecting innocent lives. The removal of potential threats to the well being of reproductive age women, given Louisiana's draconian law, would seem advisable.
To stay penalties for a conviction, that's an appeal.
What research do you cite for "...the criminal justice system routinely convicts innocents..."

Okay, then. They can sue the government for wrongful punishment if they're actually not guilty of rape.

Then the few men that caught, tried and convicted as sex offender will have to have vasectomies.

Best post of the day. Stop rape and incest, or sterilize sex criminals and allow abortion.

It is in fact a perfect analogy. I'm sorry you have not been paying attention over the past few years.

It won't pass, but maybe it will make some men consider what it's like to lose bodily autonomy.

The bill is only for sexual predators, and while that's a legal designation, there are a lot of men out there who

Do they ever connect that with other people losing their autonomy? or is it only for themselves?

I've seen both. "Men should be inviolate" vs. "I've done nothing wrong so it doesn't apply"

My question is, do either of those thoughts get them to "OH! I guess it's wrong if we do it to women, too, and I will

Yeah so in the end that's why I'm not a fan of these kinds of bills/sentiments.
