If he's been sentenced to probation, that sounds like the final adjudication.

So why does it say,

Public safety advocates say the court hearing for Cauich will be rescheduled because the lawyers and judge are not ready to consider the case.


and later it ends with this,

A new court date has not been set yet.


I didn't read about any appeal in the article – and can the prosecution appeal, anyway?
