If it's not reported, it must not be important?

After four years, they were able to build up and solidify their propaganda base with FOX News and right-wing media, and to gather more followers for the cult.

But, if it had been reported at the time, especially by FOX News, it could have made a big difference in the 2016 election, in my opinion.

Whichever the case, it is a crime to pay someone "hush money" under such circumstances.
