(220 posts)The look on his face is painful to see when he sees injuries from my students. I do try to cover them up so he doesn't worry so much. Not makeup or anything like that, but, a long sleeve shirt to cover up a bite or long pants because my poor shins take a whooping sometimes. I love my job and I have turned around enough kids that it is 100% worth it. My super power is teaching angry kids how to have self control and change the trajectory of their life. I'll take some bruises to get them there. That doesn't mean I want to traumatize my poor husband (who is a 9-11 dispatcher who has seen multiple calls come in from my highly specialized special ed school and been worried the person injured is me).
Right now I'm in an orthopedic boot for my foot. A student slammed it in the door repeatedly and another student saw me limping and stomped on it! So, lol, this injury I couldn't hide from him.
