They also have no idea of what potential consequencves might be if a President made the wrong choice of what he or she CAN do. Abandoning a long time ally without haveing done one's damnedest to mend the fences would create a situation where no other nation would ever trust that nation again.
But,, yeah, people don't get it because foreign policy is boring.
