While I was in rehab last fall, I was told by a doctor that anesthesia canaffect your memory for up to six days, and that there may be some things that happen during that period that you may never remember. She said her son, who had needed surgery some months ago, was back to functioning all right, but still didn't remember things from that time.

Fortunately, I hadn't had or needed any anesthesia since, oh, maybe 1990, but the other patient in my room had. And it was pretty clear it was affecting her memory. She was still within 6 days of the surgery, and I hope she started to recover some after she went home.
