Gift link, no paywall:In what was easily the most dramatic day of Donald Trump’s hush-money trial, the porn star Stormy Daniels testified in detail Tuesday about her alleged sexual encounter with the former president—and being paid on the eve of the 2016 election to keep quiet about it.
The payment is at the heart of Trump’s trial, in which prosecutors allege that Trump falsified business records to conceal the $130,000 Daniels received. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and the sexual encounter, accusing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg of prosecuting him out of political spite.
During cross-examination, Trump’s lawyers sought to portray Daniels as a money-hungry opportunist with a vendetta against the former president. Their grilling of the adult-film actress was set to continue Thursday. Meanwhile, here are five of the most explosive moments from Tuesday.
