In reply to the discussion: Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker bashes Pride Month, tells women to stay in the kitchen [View all]appleannie1
(5,457 posts)Working as an aide in a Catholic hospital I saw more than one or two women die needlessly in childbirth because they followed the church's ban on birth control and went against their doctor's warning. Some of them left a family of children without a mother. And I also tended to a large number of nuns with stretch marks on their abdomens. I often wondered what happened to the babies they probably had and who the fathers were. It is fine to be a practicing member of a church if that is what you want. It is not good to shove your beliefs down anyone else's throats.
My sister and her hubby are Evangelicals who love the orange one and believe he was sent by God to get us through the end times. I believe he is trying to cause the end times if nothing else. We still speak but she knows better than to preach to me. I blocked her husband on my email account for trying and when she asked why, I told her. As the grandmother of 3 LGBTQ members, when she started a spiel about homosexuals I shut her up in a hurry. I told her she could believe whatever she wanted to but that did not give her the right to diss any of my grandchildren. Jesus said that his father loves ALL of His children and as He loves them so should we love one another so I guess she is not a very good Christian. That put a fast end to the conversation.
I am not a Chief's fan but if I was, I would not have a good opinion of their kicker. And judging from some of the groans during the speach, I got the impression that some of the graduates felt the same way.
