I met my wife, a politically like-minded northern European, fifty years ago at the tender age of 22.
My first and future reaction was W. O. W.! I was quite convinced I'd never find another one like her, and didn't feel like trying. Deal breakers for us were always right-wingers, religious extremists and people who drove as fast as they possibly could (and here in Germany, that's legal out on many parts of the Autobahn network). If you drive fast enough to endanger yourself, that means you're driving fast enough to endanger others, and that crossed her social worker's line.
If I ever lost her, first of all, I'd be like a rainbow trout stuck in the middle of the Gobi Desert. Besides, no woman that I was attracted to ever gave me a second look, anyway. My wife was the big exception because she was nearsighted, and we met in a dark place
