I know of situations where people tried that and it gets old to the "friends" real fast. These deals never last because what's in it for the "friend?"
To make something like this work, you have to provide "in kind" to the "friend" so that he/she gets something out of it. Nobody helps somebody live a luxury lifestyle for nothing. The very least is Jones pays double for his luxury lifestyle: one for the friend, one for himself.

Oh, little doubt his friend's largesse will involve some sort of covert work from Jones on the friends behalf
