(3,213 posts)...which you have to download to a mobile device (phone, tablet). The deals are not on the menu in most cases. I'm pretty sure that's where the stories of the $18 Big Mac meals are coming from; there has apparently been huge "greedflation" on menu prices that started after the Covid crisis began to recede. Once I saw the prices going up, I started going to those places a lot less often, which also had a salutary effect on my health.
Probably the reason that the fast-food joints are giving the deals exclusively on the apps is because they can use all the aggregated data as another profit center, just like your local supermarket probably has a loyalty card. All of the fast-food places now have an app they want you to use. I wonder, however, whether these companies got a little overconfident in their price gouging and are now backpedaling; maybe the negative news about "greedflation" has had some effect, and they have finally reached the point where the market will bear no further price increases.
