bc the above statements tell me that you won't hear it. But here it goes:

Hamas is the the government of Gaza. Elected in years ago, never ceding power. YOUR WORDS ABOVE take away the agency of the people who are in Hamas and the people who live in Gaza/Palestine. They are as capable of the actions and the horrible things that have occurred. They aren't a MAGIC WORD that absolves Israel of its actions. That is paternalistic claptrap... Why paternalistic? It's pushing a narrative of lack of agency on people who live in third world conditions.

I do NOT think Israel could do no wrong. I am not a fan of Benjamin Netanyahu or his current government. And you know who else isn't? A lot of people in Israel's population. Yet people treat Israel as a bogeyman around the world, on a murderous rampage for shits and giggles.

Hamas is responsible for much of the death that has occurred. Israel also bears responsibility, of course. It's war. But it's a war that was started on October 7th by the HORRIFIC actions of Hamas and the people who supported their goals. Hamas has embedded itself and the hostages into the community, using the Palestinian people as human shields. Hamas has had agency this whole time. They could have agreed to a ceasefire. They could have released every single hostage. They DO NOT WANT TO. They like what is happening because they hate Israelis more than they love their own people.
