Looking at some of the opinions left, we are now waiting on just one opinion from November: US v. Rahimi, the gun rights case.

No order on yesterday's conference: Are we expecting later today or will it be Monday 9:30? Or do we have no idea yet? Thanks.
We will get orders from yesterday's conference on Monday at 9:30 am. And so far the court has announced opinions next week on Thursday, although I would expect them to add at least one more day (Friday?) next week. As I mentioned yesterday, it won't be Wednesday, because Wednesday is a federal holiday.

The 10th Circuit is reversed.

We have the third and final ruling of the day, in Garland v. Cargill, the bumpstock case. It is by Justice Thomas, and the vote is 6-3. Sotomayor dissents, joined by Kagan and Jackson.

The question in this case is whether a bumpstock (an accessory for a semi-automatic rifle that allows the shooter to rapidly reengage the trigger to fire very quickly) converts the rifle into a machinegun. The court holds that it does not.

This is *not* a Second Amendment case, but instead a statutory interpretation case -- whether a bumpstock meets the statutory definition of a machinegun. The ATF in 2018 issued a rule, contrary to its earlier guidance that bumpstocks did not qualify as machineguns, defining bumpstocks as machineguns and ordering owners of bumpstocks to destroy them or turn them over to the ATF within 90 days.
