Requesting some thoughts for voting this Saturday in the SC primary. [View all]

Since there are no primaries for democrats, the wife and I get to soil our hands and vote in the Rethug primary. I've been mulling the different strategies for choosing who to vote for and I can't seem to find one that makes more sense than another. I've been weighing the following ideas:

1. A vote for the Grinch in order to help keep Romney and Newt bashing the hell out of each other and drag the nomination out as long as possible, however, the Grinch is likely to already do well down here since he's been blowing the dog whistles and the Evangelicals can't stand the thought of voting for a mormon.

2. Voting for Mittens to drive the Evangelicals crazy having to choose between a mormon or a "Muslim" (read: scary non-white person). {On a side note, one of my clients thought it was hilarious to tell me how she almost laughed herself to tears when telling one of her African-American "friends" that said friend must be supporting Obama so the friend could get "her 40 acres and a mule". Yeah, hilarious you racist ignoramus.}

3. Voting for The Frothy One to, again, throw a little more chaos into the race and split the GreedyOl'Pigs a little more...and he's just good for some comedy gold. And if by some freak of a chance, he wins the whole thing, he has the least viable chance to challenge Obama.

4. Voting for Paul. With him making even the slightest bit of a showing, he's more likely to run as an independent either on his own or to campaign for the Americans Elect nomination. With him in the race as an independent, he will further fracture the Repuke vote and make it that much easier for Obama to be reelected.

I am currently most leaning toward #4 but I am torn as to which of my scenarios is the most effective or if I missed another idea.

I'd recommend #1. I don't believe Paul would run as an independent. highplainsdem Jan 2012 #4
