Though the kind of out-and-out fraud that you describe may well be occuring as well.

Take the Brand name: Milwaukee Tools. http://www.cpomilwaukee.com/

Of the 6 tools that are being promoted on their home page, 1, the sawzall, is made in the USA.

It's not as though all of this is even saving us money, the drill made in China costs as much as the American-made sawzall.

I spoke to their customer service person, who confirmed the Chinese origin of the drill, and the American origin of the sawzall.
Apparently, only the products with a "Made in USA" logo on the product page are made here.
