because we need a fair chunk of them and no matter how unfair it may be, they aren't likely to buy Weekend at Biden's no matter what is going on with Chump who's baseline is so awful that his slippage and demonstrated ineptitude don't register.

The obtainable but not utterly out on Chump part of the population is near impossible to fully disqualify Chump with because despite a whole mountain range of evidence he is still at least borderline acceptable so showing up not him is not going to do it no matter how much it should.

Whatever bizarre bar they have that Chump meets for them must be exceeded to beat him and pouting about it isn't going to have a lot of traction either.

Biden can do it but his campaign will have to be a lot more vigorous and with a lot of grandstanding while holding down the day job and avoiding colds/travel fatigue/one bad debates anywhere near the level we saw last week.
