He should have been allowed to defend himself in an ethics hearing (I don’t think it would have gone to court). If he had, the rightwing ratf*cking would’ve been exposed for what it was, with the added benefit of making it harder to do next time.

Also, believing that Al Franken was unfairly railroaded does not imply that Tina Smith isn’t a good senator, it’s possible to believe both of those things.
