(25,355 posts)I had just shared the same idea with another DUer who tipped me off to your OP. Quite a few people here are leaning the same way. It's in Trump's typical character (or lack of it) to create a "heroic victim" scenario like this. So much to gain for him when the stakes are so high.
He gets to appear at his convention to great enthusiastic applause and cheers like Biden has been getting at rallies. Nobody is likely to question him at the moment about Project 2025 or the Epstein papers. He gets to turn the reality of his own promotion of violence around to becoming a victim of violence that his spin doctors will blame on Dems.
Nothing to lose. Everything to gain. Can't say that it actually did happen this way. But it is not outside the realm of possibility in the current political atmosphere.
