In reply to the discussion: Please no more sympathy for the shooter [View all]Abolishinist
(2,878 posts)42. Doesn't surprise me in the least... in fact I'd be surprised if
this or some variation is not who he is.
It's a difficult pill for me to swallow, but I have to say that if the choice is to
(a) demean the right as being dumb, stupid, ignorant worthless pieces of reich-wing garbage, or
(b) attempt to find some common ground, to view them as partially human, and they viewing us as such,
the best way to move a higher percentage of them to our side is (b) vs. (a).
But let's face it, it takes time, and it's not nearly as much fun!

True. Almost everything I've said about this shooter applies to Orange guy.

I guess what I'm trying to say without really saying is that KILLING is the reason.

Found that interesting. Like the Idaho killer. Mother and sister were therapists.

If their abuse has caused them to be mentally ill they never felt seen or heard so they have resentment towards society

I was shocked at some of the posts here i saw right after the shooting. It's like there was no humanity.

Sorry, Abolitionist. I should have pointed out that "he was a good kid who did a bad thing"

I have to believe that there is something in you that says "my pain doesn't translate to inflicting pain on others."
