I probably have this wrong, but it started when Biden brushed off Arthur Sulzberger's interview request.

Then the debate (why was there even a debate then?), then the Hollywood fundraiser where West Coast money got an unvarnished look at Biden in the flesh, then the panic set in when the internal swing-state polls came back.
