Personally I'm energized by today's developments [View all]

I've thought the attacks against Biden were incredibly unfair, but unfair or not, they were taking a political toll.

Beating Trump is THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.

Joe Biden knows that too, and selflessly acted accordingly. I don't see this as Biden giving in to the bastards attacking him, but making a selfless, patriotic decision for what he himself believes is for the good of the country.

Beating Trump is more important than even well-deserved loyalty to Joe Biden.

Beating Trump is more important than any feeling that Biden stepping down someone disenfranchises Democratic primary voters, who, after all, voted for Harris at the same time, and mostly voted for the only viable Democratic candidate on the ticket anyway. (I'm mean, Dean Phillips? Really!?)

I think the number of somehow resentful Biden voters who won't vote for Harris will be absolutely minimal, and easily outweighed by voters, especially young voters, who will now be feel more motivated and excited.

I've long been worried about the logistical challenges of a change of nominee this late in the game, but since Harris inherits the existing Biden/Harris campaign apparatus, Harris was the absolute best replacement candidate in that sense. She's also a great candidate in her own right apart from the campaign mechanics.

I'm sure we'll now have the energy and excitement needed to overcome any other logistical difficulties of changing our nominee so close to the election, and turn the new Harris candidacy into a hugely positive change.

Beating Trump is DEFINITELY MORE IMPORTANT that expressing your anger against donors and fellow Democrats who pressured Biden to step down.
