14. Obama 2008, St. Paul

IIRC, it was the first time he could announce he had enough candidates. The line to get in stretched around the block and down another block. We didn't get to meet him, but it was a hell of a night.

I knew it would be a wait, so I started a sock in queue. I'd brought bamboo needles so I could get them past security. I still have the socks and call them my Obama socks. I picked a yarn out of my stash at random and was equally embarrassed and amused to find later that the colorway was named "Brown Sugar". Oh, well.

And in college, though I didn't go to the speech, Hubert Humphrey came through the Student Union and grabbed my hand to shake it as he came through.
