AZ: Voter registration, property records cast GOP legislative candidate's eligibility in doubt [View all]

An Arizona House seat thought to be safely in the hands of Republicans could be up for grabs after it appears one of the GOP candidates in a southeast Valley district might not be eligible to hold office.

Michael A. Way attested in his nomination paperwork that he will have resided in Maricopa County for six years and within Legislative District 15 for five years ahead of this fall's election.

The attestation is done under penalty of perjury. It's needed because the Arizona Constitution requires members of the Legislature to have lived in the state for three years and within the county they seek to be elected in for one year when they take office.
