The House rules demand that a Speaker receive a majority—218 votes—to be elected speaker. If no nominee for speaker receives 218, the House remains speakerless—as it did during parts of the Civil War.


Is for the House to have a Minority Leader and no Majority Leader? Uhmmm, Erick ... who will negotiate this "fiscal cliff/debt ceiling" thing, in the short run, and introduce legislation, and ... you know ... conduct the House's business, over the next two years? Yeah, that'll go over well with the electorate!

I think these teaparty nuts are really deep, deep, deep-cover Democratic operatives, working to ensure Democratic rule in all three branches of government.

BTW, who will introduce President Obama for the SOTU Address?
