(34,015 posts)The Logan Act is over 200 years old. It applies to everyone in the country. It applies to you. It applies to me. It applies to civilian Trump. No one has ever been taken to court over it. Two were charged in the 19th Century, but the charges were dropped. A farmer in Kentucky was charged for collaborating with the French who owned Louisiana at the time. An American who was living in Mexico was charged because of a contact to build a railroad in Mexico. In both cases the charges were dropped.
It isn't the espionage act. It isn't the FISA Act. It isn't the foreign agents act.
I'm sure many many instances have happened, but no one is ever charged. It's a law that "sits on the books", but isn't enforced.
