(8,514 posts)None of the above. And, before I came to DU, I couldn't have cared less about these people's rights. Not that I fought against them; I just didn't care, one way or another. For the most part, it was because I didn't see that they had any less rights than any of the rest of us. It was here, on DU, that I found out that that wasn't true.
And, it was here that my heart was touched, and I realized that, although different from me, lgbt human beings are the same. They want to love and be loved; have a family, a home, children, jobs, a marriage, security. And, when we allow them to be deprived of those things, those basic rights, we pave the way for those rights to be taken from any of us, and all of us.
Congrats to the newly wedded. I am so happy for them. And, for the rest of us.
