which "will shrug it off". About one third can't be bothered to vote. They usually shrug everything off. And that is the third where we can hope to make some headway.
Also the "shoot someone on 5th Ave and wouldn't lose votes" is widely misunderstood in my opinion. If Trump actually executed someone like that it would energize his supporters. In fact, Trump did that. He executed more federal death row prisoners than any president in a century. Even leading up to his coup attempt.

It's not legal. The DOJ is in one branch, justices are in another. No DOJ has jurisdiction over any part of SCOTUS.
