Almost as if there were an ongoing campaign to maintain a constant level of stress on citizens because it makes them easier to distract with propaganda. For example: boomers, x's and z's, and other similarly fabricated "facts" our infotainment obsession has sold us over the years. We have allowed ourselves to be subdivided into these and other artificial demographics just so folks would know in which club they would best fit as well as those which will not welcome them. Even though it doesn't matter because every club meeting is comprised of people whose faces and attention spans are being eaten by their cell phones. "Club" and "club meeting", in this instance, is a metaphor to facilitate discussion about the desperate state of a society terrified that they might be "bored", or worse, challenged to ponder, for more than 5 seconds, the meaning of their lives.
