As far as I can tell, Musk started to unravel during his utterly bizarre 'thai cave rescue' episode. Then his trans daughter fall out happened and he completely lost it.

It is not unusual for the parents of trans children to freak out. Sometimes the freak out results in a more empathetic perspective, sometimes it results in a transphobic amplification.
