(21,098 posts)After five hours in the ER, and an AFIB heart beating away, they finally came to me and said they were moving me to a room.
They rolled me to the fifth floor and stopped at a room. The transport guy said he can't go in with me and I'd have to walk in. I was thinking it was nice I had a private room, but then I noticed the big window unit pumping air out.
I had a big window facing the hall and I could see people dressed in space suits moving about. That's when I realized where I was. I was lucky I didn't have a heart attack right there. My heart doctor face timed me on my phone to say he'd see me when I got out. An astute nurse came in and checked me out. She pointed out I didn't have any symptoms except my COPD. She pulled strings and moved me to a less stressful room and had me out of there by morning.
Things actually got much worse from there and I didn't get home for another four months, including a two week coma. I'm better now though, and there wasn't much to do in 2020 anyway.
