Colorado is a mail-in state, but the wife and I always take our ballots to the county clerk in Fairplay just so there is no snafu. It's about 40 miles one way, but since DeJoy's reign we like to make sure they actually get there.

Aside from the obvious big one (presidential) there are some important ballot initiatives on the card here:

1. Amendment J repeals the definition of marriage as only between one man and one woman. The initiative effectively eliminates the ban on gay marriage from the state constitution. This one isn't enforced thankfully...after all our governor is a married gay man...but it needs to be gone in case some zealot in the future decides it needs to re-implemented. Gay marriage is currently only legal because of US supreme court rulings.

2. Amendment 79 makes abortion a constitutional right. It also removes the ban on state and local funding for abortion services.

3. Proposition 127 would ban hunting of mountain lion, bobcat and lynx. Lynx are currently off the table because of their protected status, but bobcat and mountain lion can be trophy hunted. The opposition to this proposition seem well funded and are grossly exaggerating the amount of deer killed by these predators.

I think 1 and 2 are likely to pass but I'm less confident about 3. The opposition to 127 seems well funded and there are a lot of hunters here. Driving thru rural areas "Vote no on 127" signs are common.

Big relief to finally have the ballots in the box!
