And, judging from what the gungeon trolls post here on DU, apparently the Texas gun nuts that I've known are a pretty representative sample.

If you are looking for statistics and peer reviewed research on guns and gun policy, here are a few places to start. But in my experience most gun nuts simply dismiss all the scientific evidence as "anti-gun bias", in the same way as creationists and global warming deniers.
