Obviously you didn't look at the link where the site spells out specific groups, the money requested and what they'll be used for. Yes, I'm sure some of these organizations have paid staffers..."community organizers" if you will...who spend far more hours at their job and helping people than counting money.
I've been to New Orleans and worked with several groups there in the wake of Katrina...so I saw the devestation...both in physical and human terms. If it wasn't for non-profits...like Habitat For Humanity...there's be far less new homes built in the lower 9th. Yes...even over 5 years after this event there are problems; much of it from large corporates who closed shop and never came back.
If you don't want to donate...fine...but please don't broadbrush the many non-profits and charities that are right now working their asses off to try to restore some semblence of normal for thousands of people who are victims of this storm.
