Midterms are a big deal, period, and the problem is that a lot of voters (especially young voters) simply don't show up. Some Americans really don't grasp that there are elections every two years, and that's quite apart from those who live in states where the gubernatorial elections take place in odd-numbered years.

But every two years we get a new set of House members and a third of the Senate. It's a huge deal.
