I ran into that trying to visit a museum years ago. I had a smartphone, downloaded the app, linked it to my bank, etc, and rushed through the visit because I wasn't sure how much charge my phone had, and had no idea what a person would do if their phone died so they couldn't notify the app of their departure.
Generally speaking I just don't go places where I need a smartphone. I have one and I'm pretty far from being a luddite, but I don't like having to figure stuff like that out, which used to be entirely simple.

You are missing the point. Many things will become (many already have) app-ONLY. Here in Sweden, in order to use
