Timing is everything. Hence, had our friend posted the OP tomorrow, it likely would have led to a serious discussion. The concern expressed in the OP has validity.

However, at this particular time, in the midst of people feeling upset by the violence and death, and the numerous arguments about guns, it instead has transformed into a chance for people to blow off some steam in a relatively good natured way. At least that's what my feeble attempts at humor here were.
