2. That is exactly how I am dealing with it.

I didn't feel like putting up lights so I just put out a few lights. My neighbor said hi and told me that his daughter (just starting to talk) LOVES my lights and asks to go see "Blue lights."

Oh man...my grumpy old heart did a little sad at that. I used to go all out on my lights and this year just didn't have it in me. After hearing how much she loved them I felt awful! In years past cars have stopped to make pictures and this year I had almost nothing. I live on a corner lot, so basically 50'x100' of darkness.

I have a tree on the median strip that I ran power to and covered with blue icicle lights. And when I say covered, I mean--it looks like a weeping willow of blue light. It is over the sidewalk so you can walk right under it, or, as in my neighbor's case, push the stroller under it.

I find myself standing at the front door over and over again, looking out the window and watching all those lights thinking in the dark. Tonight we have a wind storm coming and all I can think is, "The tree is going to be so pretty blowing in the wind!"

Making my own happiness.
