If you want to do something about guns follow the lead of the anti-abortionists [View all]
As we all know guns are legal, but then so are abortions and there are entire states where you can not get an abortion. So how did one legal thing become unobtainable and what lesson can be learned from that?
The anti abortionists did not attack abortions, they attacked the abortion providers and the clinics in which they operated. You may not realize it but it is already very difficult to get the federal license needed to sell firearms - but if you want to follow the tried-and-true methodology of the antiabortionists you might want to make the requirements for the Federal license so onerous that virtually no one could obtain one. And then there are the attacks on the clinics by the antiabortionists, well, how about security requirements for gun shops? Couldn't, and shouldn't, gun shops be super-secure in the interest of community safety? I would say so and who is to say that each community could not demand its own standards for gun shops? The antiabortionists shut down clinic after clinic because the buildings could not pass new standards ... take a lesson.
