Reagan National Airport cancels 100 flights due to runway closures [View all]

Newsweek live updates

Reagan National Airport experienced significant disruption on Friday, with 100 flights canceled following a crash near the airport.

Terry Liercke, the airport's vice president and manager, confirmed that two of the airport's three runways were closed to prevent planes from flying over the crash site.

Liercke said that the closures would likely last for about a week but would be reassessed as the recovery operation progresses. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest information on flight schedules.
