I think she was a bit more humble about that. She declined the nomination of the R&R Hall of Fame. I'm sure I would have liked her rock album better than some things that are in the R&R HoF.

I have no problem with aging artists stretching out beyond their comfort zone. How many rock singers have done albums of jazz standards? Rod Stewart, Linda Ronstadt, Willie Nelson, Carly Simon, Sinead O'Connor, Wynonna Judd, Regis Philbin, and many others. Tina Louise (Ginger from Gilligan's Island) is actually pretty legit as a singer of jazz standards.

But these award things have little to do with the talent or quality of the work, and more about the popular interest. It wouldn't be much of a show if they handed out awards to a bunch of people you have never heard of. That's what America's Got Talent is for.
