Gun Violence Will Only Stop When We Address The Violent Currents in Our Collective Consciousness [View all]
It's a philosophical conversation that needs to happen.
Its the holistic view that encompasses all the various components: guns > mental illness > dysfunctional families >society > violence.
Unfortunately, a huge stumbling block is that so many people who are otherwise open-minded and truly believe we are all connected either don't believe there is a Collective Consciousness or if they do, don't see the implications of it.
If you start from the position there is a Collective Consciousness then you accept that one ripple in the mass pool of our Group Mind ultimately effects us all.
Think of the ocean with inlets all around the bodies of land. Our bodies are the shoreline. The Collective Consciousness is the ocean and our minds are its many inlets. Effluence/Pollution in one inlet ultimately effects the entire ocean especially considering the way resonance occurs amongst an entire groups members.
Even harder to overcome is the resistance so many have to the concept that, since the Collective Consciousness exists beyond physical space, our thoughts and personal behavior can negatively impact the whole.
We need to have a philosophical discussion. And it needs to go beyond individual, segregated elements and demonization.
Be the change you want to see in the world. If we want peace then we need to habitually seek out peaceful thoughts & behaviors. Try to take an honest look at what tv shows, music & games we habitually focus on. Are they violent? If they are, why not try more peaceful alternatives? Do we as a society and as individuals really value peace in EVERY aspect of our being?
When confronted with violence do we do our best to transmute that energy & not perpetuate it?
There is a philosophical conversation that needs to happen.
I wish I was better able to elaborate the subject or in a position to help facilitate it.
