We are literally being erased

72. A couple of decades ago (at least)

many of us women took back the word "witches" and started using it with pride. We'd stare down anyone who tried staring us down. We engaged in conversation, whether or not the (usually always) xtianist wanted to converse. There was a whole host of words that the "mainstream church" had made out to be of the devil, evil, and always woman-related. Witch, Midwife, Druid, and others. That gave us a few decades of at least tolerance by others, once they really listened to us. We were even invited into Interfaith Communities as equal partners.

I'm seeing all the gains we made swept away with tidal wave trump and his unholy evangelicals. And I say this, with MY upbringing being in an evangelical church. These people can quote pieces of scripture to you, but have no understand of what they're saying... and most of the time if you call them on it, they can't even give you any context. They don't understand their own damned religion, let alone anyone else's. Nor do they care to change... the same as it is with the "culture war" atrocities.

I do worry where the future will lead for those of us who don't conform to male, white, christianist. There's a lot of Christians out there that are going to be very surprised to find out their brand of Christianity just doesn't make the cut, and are lumped in with the rest of us. But at least til that day, I say it loud and proud... I AM a strong Woman AND I am a enlightened Witch!
