OK, I finally got really choked up when I saw a picture of Victoria Soto.. [View all]

You know-- the cute 27 year old Puerto Rican woman who every one thought was a great teacher and was probably thinking about having her own children and sending them to that school...

Until she hears gunfire and hides her kids in the closets. The killer comes in looking for the kids hiding in the closets but she tells them they're hiding in the gym.

So he shoots her.

What goes through the minds of 6 year olds when they hear their teacher being shot on the other side of the door? What will it take to see them laugh again?

There were other heroes besides Victoria Soto protecting the children that grim day, and they too died, but there was something about this woman who was just starting a wonderful career that really got to me.
